This page explains how NatGasChart.com uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. We try to keep the language plain: if something here is unclear, email [email protected].
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places in your browser's storage. They let the site remember that your browser has been there before and can carry a short identifier that third-party services read on subsequent visits. "Similar technologies" include local storage entries, session storage, pixel tags, and device-identifier libraries used for analytics and advertising. In the rest of this policy we use the word "cookies" to cover all of these.
Categories of cookies on this site
NatGasChart.com and the third parties integrated with it use the following categories of cookies:
1. Strictly necessary
These are required for the Site to function. They cover things like balancing load across servers, remembering that you have dismissed a cookie banner if one is shown, and basic security protections. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies and still use the Site normally.
2. Analytics
Google Analytics (gtag.js, property ID visible in the page source) sets a small number of cookies — for example _ga and _ga_* — that Google uses to distinguish unique browsers and reconstruct aggregate traffic patterns. The data is used only in aggregate (which pages are popular, which devices readers use, how readers arrive at the Site). Analytics cookies are not used to identify you personally.
3. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense and partners)
NatGasChart.com uses Google AdSense to display advertising. AdSense and its partner networks set cookies on your device that are used to:
- Deliver ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites;
- Measure ad performance (which ads were shown, whether they were interacted with);
- Limit the number of times a given ad is shown to the same user;
- Detect and prevent ad fraud and abuse.
Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You can review Google's advertising technologies and opt-out options in the Google Ads policy.
4. Third-party embed cookies
When you load a page with a TradingView chart or other third-party widget, that provider may set its own cookies or local-storage entries — for example, to remember a chart timeframe or theme setting across sessions. Those cookies are governed by the provider's own policy (see the TradingView privacy policy). Google Fonts, used for typography, may also log your request headers on a short-term basis.
How to control cookies
You have several tools for controlling the cookies set on your device.
- Browser settings. All major browsers let you block third-party cookies entirely or clear cookies for a specific site. Check the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge for step-by-step instructions. Blocking all cookies may affect some widgets on this Site — for example, a chart may not remember your chosen timeframe between visits.
- Google Ads Settings. Visit google.com/settings/ads to opt out of personalised advertising from Google across the web, including ads shown on NatGasChart.com. With this setting off, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised based on your browsing history.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent your visits from being counted in Google Analytics.
- Advertising industry opt-outs. Use aboutads.info/choices (U.S.) or YourOnlineChoices.com (EU / UK) to opt out of interest-based advertising from a large list of participating networks.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat that as a request to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law, to the extent that cookie-based advertising on the Site would be treated as "sharing".
Mobile devices
On mobile devices, your operating system provides an advertising identifier (for example, Apple's IDFA or Google's Advertising ID). You can reset or limit that identifier from the device's privacy settings, which reduces the amount of personalisation available to any ad network that relies on it.
Consent
Where required by applicable law (notably the EU ePrivacy rules and GDPR, and the UK PECR), non-essential cookies are set only after you give consent through a cookie banner or equivalent interface. If a banner is not currently shown in your jurisdiction it is because your jurisdiction does not require prior consent for the categories of cookies in use on this Site; you can still apply the opt-outs above at any time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add or remove a vendor. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change when we do. Material changes will also be announced via the Privacy Policy where appropriate.
Contact
Questions about cookies or the opt-out options above can be sent to [email protected] or via the contact page.
