€/MWh to $/MMBtu: Converting European Gas Prices

Last reviewed on October 31, 2026.

Formula: $/MMBtu = €/MWh × EUR/USD ÷ 3.412. Going the other way, €/MWh = $/MMBtu × 3.412 ÷ EUR/USD.

The 3.412 comes from energy: one megawatt-hour equals 3.412 MMBtu. The exchange rate turns euros into dollars. The tables below use an ECB rate of 1.1172 dollars per euro (October 30, 2026); for another rate, use the live calculator.

Worked example

Suppose TTF is €90/MWh and EUR/USD is 1.12. Then 90 × 1.12 = $100.80/MWh, and $100.80 ÷ 3.412 = $29.54/MMBtu. Comparing that with Henry Hub near $3 gives a spread of more than $26/MMBtu, which is why the Henry Hub–TTF spread gets so much attention.

Pence per therm (NBP) to $/MMBtu

UK NBP gas is quoted in pence per therm. Because there are 10 therms in an MMBtu and 100 pence in a pound, $/MMBtu = pence per therm × GBP/USD ÷ 10. Rates below use $1.3399 per pound.

NBP (p/therm)$/MMBtu
50p$6.70
100p$13.40
150p$20.10
200p$26.80
250p$33.50
300p$40.20

Euro per cubic metre

Supply contracts sometimes quote €/m³. A cubic metre of gas holds roughly 10–11 kWh, so €90/MWh is about €0.95/m³. The exact figure depends on the calorific value, which the converter lets you set.

Frequently asked questions

Why divide by 3.412?

One MWh contains 3.412 MMBtu, so a price per MWh is 3.412 times higher than the same price per MMBtu.

How much is €100/MWh in $/MMBtu?

About $32.74/MMBtu at 1.1172 dollars per euro.

How much is 1 MMBtu of gas in Europe?

Take the TTF price in €/MWh and divide by 3.412 for euros per MMBtu. At €90/MWh that is about €26.38/MMBtu.
