This page charts the Henry Hub natural gas spot price — the price for gas delivered at the Henry Hub in Erath, Louisiana — using data published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). It is a historical reference, not a live quote: the latest monthly average shown is for August 2026, and the latest daily value in the EIA data we used is $3.18/MMBtu on September 29, 2026 (EIA release of September 30, 2026). Spot price vs. the futures price on charts
The EIA series above is the daily spot price for physical gas at Henry Hub. Most "natural gas price" charts — including the TradingView chart on our homepage — instead follow the NYMEX Henry Hub futures market (usually the front-month contract, or a broker CFD that tracks it). Futures settle on next month's delivery, so the two can differ, sometimes sharply during cold snaps when spot gas is scarce today but expected to be plentiful next month. Read how natural gas futures work for details.
What moves the price
Weather (heating and cooling demand), storage levels relative to normal, production trends in the big shale basins, LNG export demand and pipeline constraints are the main drivers. See our explainers on Henry Hub, weekly EIA storage and U.S. shale gas basins.
